I host three or four private retreats each year for the massage therapists and other healers that I would most like to learn from and share with. I usually start the group off by inviting one of the bodyworkers that I am most interested in learning from or just spending time with and then asking them to invite the bodyworker that they are most interested in learning from or just spending time with and so it goes until we have a group of ten (+/-) of the most interesting bodyworkers on earth…

Thanks for Making the 2014 Retreats Awesome! I am planning the 2015 dates and I will post them on the schedule soon. Click Here to be notified when the next retreat is scheduled

Summit Lake Massage Therapist Retreat with Joe Lavin Lake View 725x259

Why?
I host this invitation-only event so that a small gathering of exceptional practitioners can come together and share their skills, stories and experiences with each other. I want to share the parts of my bodywork and experience that I feel are the most valuable and I want to learn the same from other amazing people. Peers sharing with peers the secrets of their very sacred trades…

What Do We Do?
The retreats are pretty informal and not overly structured, so each group can develop their own rhythm.  As for the timing, we all show up on Friday evening by 7:00 PM and get settled into our rooms, then we come together on the main floor for some wine, cheese, crackers and life stories. On Saturday morning we get started with the technique exchanges, bodywork sharing and trading. We will spend time throughout the day together as a group learning from each other and also take some time for some individual trades or smaller group sessions as well as for lunch and dinner. More social time on Saturday evening and then after breakfast on Sunday we spend some more time on exchanging ideas and bodywork with each other and head back to the real world around 1:00 PM.

After the group is finalized, I send a questionnaire out to each of the participants along with some information on everyone that is attending to find out what topics are of most interest and set a tentative agenda for the weekend.

Thomas Ridge at Summit Lake
I hold the retreats at a beautiful and spacious 5 Bedroom lake front property on Summit Lake (about 20 minutes west of Olympia). Huge decks, a private dock, fireplaces, outdoor fire pit, and plenty of room for our massage tables or mats. Thomas Ridge has a beautiful kitchen and open eating area as well as plenty of relaxing living and lounging areas. There is also a very large room downstairs with plenty of room for any type of group learning.

What Does It Cost, Etc.?
I ask each participant to contribute $150 towards the weekend which covers everything (lodging, meals, workshops, etc.). Participants should plan on bringing sheets, lotions, etc for personal use as well as any special needs foods that they might need. Of course, you are welcome to bring any extra treats that you want to share with the group (snacks, teas and coffees, wine, etc.).
