My CE Classes

Massage Education Classes

MY CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES

I am a NCBTMB approved provider of Continuing Education for licensed massage therapists and practitioners. My goal is to create workshops and classes that truly inform, challenge and inspire massage therapists to move beyond their current therapeutic skill sets and understandings. I also want to help develop, and participate in, a community that is continually evolving as therapists, healers and artists and that desires to be able to fully express that evolution through their massage and bodywork.

ON-SITE, IN CLINIC, AND DESTINATION TRAINING

All of my continuing education classes and workshops are available for private, in-practice trainings at a very affordable cost. The classes can be customized to meet the individual needs of your practice and each therapist that attends will earn the associated NCBTMB approved continuing education credits.

I think that providing the same high-quality and outcome-focused training to all the practitioners in your clinic, spa or hospitality property is one of the best ways to ensure that your clients are getting the best massage possible and that you are establishing the best reputation possible for your clinic, practice or spa.

Practitioners that regularly learn and practice with each other can develop their skills at a substantially increased rate and challenge each other to keep growing. Having one or two instructors that work with the same practitioners over a period of time can be a major benefit as well. This fosters a mentoring type of relationship and the instructors can see who is progressing easily as well as who might need some extra help.

Developing an Extraordinary Quality of Touch

We are, first and foremost, touchers, maybe even the last true touching profession, so we should have both an incredible sense of touch as well as a very high quality of touch. In this course you will focus on developing a truly extraordinary sense-of-touch as well as a quality of touch that is completely unique to you as an individual and as a practitioner. You will learn how the body and nervous system experience different types of touch. You will learn several different deep-touch and soft-touch techniques that will elevate your massage to an entire new level.

Thai Massage Stretching for the Table and Beyond

Learn how to integrate the most profound and dynamic aspects of Thai Massage stretching into your personal massage practice and style. In this series you will learn how to incorporate the best Thai Massage Stretching and Compression Techniques into your floor work, table massage and even your chair massage. You will also learn the basics of Thai Yoga Massage. These techniques will allow you to offer your clients an amazing number of powerful new treatment possibilities with less physical effort by you and with less wear and tear on your body.

Dyamic Cupping Methods

Learn the modern-day techniques (and expected outcomes) of Dynamic Cupping with Silicone Cups. The vacuum created by the cups increases blood and lymphatic circulation systemically and locally, relaxes muscle and connective tissue, draws out “stagnation”, pathogenic factors and toxins from the tissues, and releases a myriad of pain-causing factors. Silicone cups come in many different sizes, and they easily change shape, making for an amazing array of places these cups can fit and be used on the body. You can read more about how I approach cupping here.

Hot Stone and IASTM

As massage therapists, most of us are familiar with the relaxation and therapeutic value provided by hot stones. However, we might not be as familiar with the therapeutic value of Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) which is most often used in physical therapy or Eastern treatment modalities. With IASTM you use specialized instruments in place of your hands. Both hot stones and IASTM tools allow more direct treatment of the soft tissues involved with movement, with less wear and tear on you.

Business, Theory, and Ethics Classes

Massage Business Mastery

This is a very high-level massage business development and branding class intended for entrepreneurial massage therapists that want to build a thriving and sustainable massage practice (without discounting, having to post incessantly on social media platforms, or bothering your current or past clients with annoying and irrelevant emails).

Use Your Words: An Ethics Workshop

This workshop is about developing your own personal, working ethical framework for your massage practice and being able to easily talk about that framework with your clients.  Professional & Personal Boundaries, Mutually Informed Consent, Power Differential Dynamics, Clear, Professional and Non-Shaming Communication, Mutual Responsibility.

Mastering The Intake Process

The intake process for massage clients is one of the most important ingredients to providing them with the best possible experience and outcomes. In this workshop, I will teach you how to create an intake form that asks every question that you are required to ask, want to ask, and have probably not even thought about asking until now. Then I will teach you how to use your client's written intake to dive even deeper into the questions that they have answered so you can start your massage with more information about your clients’ needs, wants, and desired outcomes than ever before.

Compassion Fatigue: Understanding, Avoiding &Treating

Compassion fatigue is a condition characterized by emotional and physical exhaustion leading to a diminished ability to empathize or feel compassion for others, often described as the negative cost of caring. It is primarily “diagnosed” in first responders, health care providers, social service workers etc. So that relates directly to us as caregivers. In addition, I feel that many of our clients who are not in these roles professionally are experiencing very similar issues, especially in the last several years. In this class, I will help you understand how to recognize the symptoms of compassion fatigue in yourself, your co-workers, and your clients. I will also give you a chest full of resources that you can use and/or offer to others.

Pay What You Can

As always, most of the classes that I teach personally are Pay What You Can (Read More Here). Just use the promotion code PWYC25 to take 25% off of a class or PWYC50 to take 50% off of a class. If you need a larger discount just let me know. This has worked well for the last 8 years because people only use it when they really need it, and I never really know who has paid full for a class or not because I do not keep track. So please use it if you need to.

*I can't offer PWYC on the classes that I fly people in to teach because I need to pay them for teaching as well as for their lodging and travel etc. I also do not offer pwyc on my business classes at this time.
